Grow Your Blog Party + Giveaway

Today I am joining Vicki of 2 Bags Full in her blog party, where I tell you a bit about myself and my blog. Visit Vicki's blog where you can find the list of over 400 participants.

Hi, my name is Heather Long.

I was born and grew up in New Zealand, but I have now spent many years living in Asia.

Singapore is where I currently live with my husband.
My life is full of contrast as I go from the openness of the New Zealand countryside to the compactness of a busy Singapore city.

I love creating with handwork, and have done so from a child. I was surrounded by crafts from an early age with a mother and grandmother that were able to teach me many crafting skills. Fashion design was my passion so I studied and worked as a clothing designer in New Zealand and England in my youth. My life changed dramatically when with 2 young children I moved to Taiwan many years ago with my husbands job. In order to keep my creative mind sane I had the opportunity to join a Quilting class and started into the world of traditional quilting. This was a fabulous way to meet like minded ladies in a sometimes lonely expat world.

 Framing Flowers

My love of quilting has stayed with me and I have produced many quilts over the years and now find myself appreciating and working more with Modern and Art quilts.

The other craft I have become passionate about is Box Making or Cartonnage. I love the precision in this craft and find it works in well with the quilting fabric stash and my love of paper.

Arab St

After returning to Singapore a few years ago, this has enabled me to spend more time on my creative work. I really enjoyed reading a friends blog, so this encouraged me to start a blog to share my creative journey. It has been a good learning curve in many technical ways and a real inspiration when you are working mainly in solitude. If you wish to, you can join me as I continue on this exciting journey, by clicking on the bloglovin' button or by following by email which you can access on the side bar of the blog.

The Wedding Quilt

A Party is not a party without a gift. To celebrate the pattern I released last year on Craftsy I am going to gift a completed Quilters Sewing Box as a Giveaway, so scroll to the comments below and say hi in order to go into the draw.

If you are unable to leave a comment for some reason email me and I will add your name. The draw closes on the 15th February 2015, 11pm Singapore time.
