Working with Inktense Pencils on Fabric

Recently I have been researching about fabric drawing with the Derwent Inktense Water Soluble Pencils.

I visited Artfriend here in Singapore and purchased a set of 36 Inktense pencils to experiment with.

I also required some Fabric Medium to make it possible for these pencils to work on fabric, which I found in Spotlight.

Using a ZIG fabricolor permanent ink pen, I sketched a design onto a piece of  pure cotton fabric.

Using the Inktense pencils I coloured in the design and followed this with the fabric medium and painted it over the pencil drawing, washing my brush in water between each colour change.

The colours become saturated and vibrant. I left the design to dry for 24 hours before ironing to set the colour. The design was then washed in warm water with a mild detergent with no colour change and this was the final result. These pencils are a great way of fabric painting small designs without any messy paints.

Thanks for the visit
